Gallery > Urban Bird Project

The Urban Bird paintings are a series of monumental portraits of dead birds. They are inspired by birds that have crashed into windows.

I paint from real birds that I find or that people bring me. They are stored in a dedicated freezer just outside my studio. Painting from real birds allows me to study the physical as well as emotional aspects. Dead birds also interest me for their symbolic, environmental and historical context.
